I have a 2006 Pontiac Torrent (with AWD) with approximately 67,000 miles on it. About a week ago I noticed a whining noise when the vehicle is driven. Starts to be noticeable at around 20mph and gets more pronounced up to around 65mph when it fades away (or becomes less noticeable)
