We are in great financial need. I have a retirement account with a previous employer that would go a long way in settling our debt, but the employer states that under no circumstances can I access this fund until I am 55. So I could go bankrupt but have enough money in my retirement account to prevent this from happening

My husband was married to his first wife for 30 years and she was awarded spousal support (indefinitely) in the amount of $7200/month. My question is, when he retires (we currently live in Virginia), is he required to continue this, or does this get reduced according to SSI, etc. She was also awarded 60% of his retirement
